OwnerState

We make desktop software that you own. Your data stays on your machine.

Business tools for people who don't want to rent access to their own numbers. One payment. No account. No internet required. It just runs.

What we believe

You shouldn't rent your tools.

You pay once. You get the software. There's no subscription that locks you out when you stop paying. It works the same on day one and day one thousand.

Your financials aren't anyone else's business.

Everything lives in a database file on your computer. There's no server. No account. No analytics. We have no idea who you are, what you sell, or what you make. That's the point.

Small businesses get the worst software.

Enterprise tools you can't afford. Consumer tools that don't fit. Or a spreadsheet you've been duct-taping together since 2019. We build for the gap in between.

Most business software makes you dependent on someone else's server, someone else's pricing, someone else's timeline.

The usual deal

  • Monthly fees forever
  • Data on their servers
  • Needs an internet connection
  • They track usage and behavior
  • They get acquired, you start over
  • Prices go up, features get locked

How we do it

  • Pay once, keep it
  • Data on your hard drive
  • Works offline, always
  • Zero telemetry, zero tracking
  • Runs with or without us
  • Price doesn't change

How it's built

Native desktop apps. Rust backend, around 10 megabytes installed. Your data lives in a SQLite file—the most widely deployed database format in the world. You can open it with a dozen free tools if you ever want to leave.

Backups are encrypted with AES-256. Save them to a USB drive, a NAS, wherever. We never see them.

If you run a small business and your software situation is bad, we'd like to hear about it.

We're building for industries that get ignored by big software companies. If that's you, get in touch.
